The Start Menu Windows 10
The reinstated Start menu in Windows 10 is where you can access areas within your computer, perform certain functions and also access apps from a variety of locations. Some of the default items on the Start menu can be customized to a certain extent and there is considerable functionality here:
- Click here to access the most recently installed or downloaded apps
- Your most frequently used apps are displayed here. Click on one to open it (these items will change as you use different apps)
Don't forget:
In previous versions of Windows 10, the Start menu contained an All Apps button. In the Anniversary Update, this has been replaced with the alphabetic list of all of the apps on the PC.

- Click here to access items including the File Explorer, your Documents library within File Explorer, and the Windows 10 Settings
- Click on the Power button for options to Sleep your computer, Shut down, or Restart
- Use the scroll bar at the right-hand side to move through the list of apps
Hot tip:
Click on a letter at the top of a section of apps to view an alphabetic grid. Click on a letter to Imove to that section.
If there is a down-pointing arrow next to an app, this means that there are additional items that can be accessed. Click on the arrow to view these → Adobe Design Premium CS5
