Using the Windows Store
The third category of apps that can be used with Windows 10 are those that are downloaded from the Windows Store. These cover a wide range of topics and they provide an excellent way to add functionality to Windows 10. To use the Windows Store:
1. Click on the Store tile on the Start menu

Windows 10 apps can all be downloaded from the Windows Store.
2. The currently featured apps are displayed on the Home screen

The Windows Store interface has been redesigned for the Anniversary Update to make it easier to find the apps that you want.
3. Scroll up and down to see additional featured apps
4. Click on the Top apps button on the Homepage and select apps under specific headings, e.g. Best-rated apps
5. Click here to select options for viewing apps according to certain criteria, e.g. Top free
6. Click on an app to preview it, and for more details
Don't forget:
Scroll up and down in Step 6 to view ratings and reviews about the app and also any additional descriptions.
7. Click here to access the categories for a specific item, e.g. Top free apps
8. Click on a category to access it
9. Click on items in each category to view details about them. Click on the Back arrow to go back each time
Hot tip:
To return to the Home screen at any point, click on the Home button from the top toolbar.
10. Enter a word or phrase into the Search box to see matching apps. Click on a result to view the app
Buying Apps
When you find an app that you want to use, you can download it to your computer. To do this:
- Access the app and click on the Free (or price) button
- The app downloads from the Windows Store and a "Downloading..." message is displayed
- The app is added to the Start menu and has a New tag next to it. This disappears once the app has been opened
Don't forget:
If there is a fee for an app, this will be displayed instead of the Free button.
- Click on the app to open and use it (initially, it will be available under the Recently added section of the Start menu, as well as its own alpha listing)

Once apps have been downloaded they can be reorganized and moved into different groups on the Start menu or dragged away from their default group to start a new one.

Viewing Your Apps
As you download more and more apps from the Windows Store you may lose track of which ones you have obtained and when. To help with this, you can review all of the apps you have downloaded, from within the Windows Store. To do this:
1. Open the Windows Store and click on your account picture button at the top of the screen
2. Click on the Downloads and updates button
3. All of the apps that have been downloaded are displayed. Tap on the Check for updates button to see if there are any updates for the listed apps
Don't forget:
You can reinstall apps from the Downloads section, even if you have previously uninstalled them. If there was a fee for an app, you will not have to pay again to reinstall it.
